Decorating & Design - Inside Design

A conversation with Dee Dee Taylor Eustace

Architect and interior designer Dee Dee Taylor Eustace divulges what drives her, who inspires her and how she loves to spend a lazy Sunday.

Architect and interior designer Dee Dee Taylor Eustace is no stranger to Canadian design. Since starting her own practice Taylor Hannah Architect Inc. in Toronto, Ontario Dee Dee has established herself through her work with over 100 residential and commercial projects under her belt. She's also been an influential force in the design community, taking part in speaking engagements, hosting a North American home makeover television show, appearing on television and radio programs, and writing design columns for national newspapers.

Dee Dee's success and passion for her work is undeniable so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to get to know what really drives her, inspires her and, of course, how she spends a lazy Sunday.

1 If you could shadow any designer for a day, who would it be?
Dee Dee Taylor Eustace
Robert Stern, the architect. His architecture and interiors are fantastic and he recently completed a condo in his Toronto building!

2 Where do you look for an obscure source of inspiration?
DDTE I travel for inspiration, which I do every month at least, and fashion - I always want what is the new "new".

3 Favourite restaurant?
DDTE Da Silvano in New York - I love Italian in Soho. In Toronto, I love the view and food at Scaramouche.

4 What's your favourite room to decorate
DDTE
I love to decorate great rooms because it's casual, requires lots of furniture and a variety of lighting.

5 What's your current paint colour obsession?
DDTE Benjamin Moore's OC-118 Snowfall White - it's the new white and it's not so yellow.
