Life used to be so much simpler. there was a time, not so very long ago, when having a barbecue for dinner meant nothing more than simply throwing a hunk of meat or a foil-wrapped fish on the old hibachi and turning it once or twice. then we'd wash it down, of course, with a cold beer or a...

Wine & spirits: Oh pinot!

Wine & spirits: Nighty-night!
With the weather at its worst during this time of year, my advice is to go home, or stay in, for a nightcap. a well-chosen one will satisfy the taste buds and soothe the body, mind and spirit. it should leave you sated and ready for bed without knocking you out, and permit you to wake up feeling...

Wine & spirits: Hot chocolate
As cosy as it gets in our snug north american homes, when the winter is bleak and blustery, a mug of hot cocoa can lift our spirits and warm our insides. spiked coffee, tea and even spiced cider are all welcome at this time of year, but nothing gives me nearly as much pleasure as a cup of...

Make it personal
When I look at a room, it's the personal touches like artwork and travel memetoes that elevate a space from generic to genuine. I'll take a house adorned with books, family photographs and decorative accessories any day over a cookie-cutter interior that's perfectly and pristinely furnished with basic pieces... I believe that a home should reflect the people who own it.
