"There's such a restful energy here," says
Style at Home editor-in-chief Erin McLaughlin of the Toronto house she recently decorated. "With the home's warm palette and classic details, I just added a few festive touches to dress up the space."
Erin took inspiration from Tiffany & Co.'s iconic blue bags and boxes, and used blown-glass balls in the same hue for a fresh, sophisticated look that reflects the foyer's refined decor but maintains a casual flow.
"Your front hall shouldn't overwhelm visitors," says Erin. Friends should feel instantly at ease and at home. To that end, she employed a pale, neutral palette that's a restful, relaxed introduction to the house.
Easy inspiration All it took was a single glance at her beloved Tiffany & Co. boxes and bags for Erin to know exactly how she wanted to decorate the space for the holidays. Small accents like shiny baubles and knickknacks were the only things needed to give the serene space a boost of festive sparkle.

Stunning stairs For the garland, Erin chose a selection of ornaments in a mixture of shapes, colours and textures. "Identical balls would look too static," she says. "The goal here was to keep it loose, not formal."
Colourful entryway Erin introduced splashes of bright colour in cards, gift bags and a vase to follow the lead of the blue baubles and carry the theme throughout the space.
