Tour the set: 50 Shades of Grey Author: Style At Home
While some people might be swooning over the steamy bedroom scenes in the blockbuster film 50 Shades of Grey (based on the bestselling book by E.L. James), we’re also weak in the knees for the ultra-swank and stylish digs of the movie’s namesake, Christian Grey. Lead set designer C. Scott Baker was tasked with setting the stage for one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of the year and creating a world that embodied the character of Mr. Grey. Namely, a guy who knows what he wants and is used to getting exactly that. The result is a set that is modern, sophisticated and deliberately minimalist. Furniture for the set was sourced from partner brands Boca Do Lobo, Delightfull, Brabbu and Koket. Curious about what all the fuss is about? Read on for a look inside the 50 Shades of Grey set and the swoon-worthy Seattle penthouse where the action happens.

Living room
A pop of colour thanks to teal carpeting makes the living room seem more, well, lived in, than the rest of Grey’s stark penthouse. Sculptural sofas, statement chandelierand a freeform wood coffee table complete the space.

Kitchen
We’re not sure how much cooking Christian Grey does but his expansive kitchen is ideal for entertaining thanks to clean lines, a long centre island and spectacular views over Seattle. Wooden accents balance out the cool quality of the marble floors and stainless steel appliances.

Bedroom
OK, so it’s not the bedroom, the one where those aforementioned steamy scenes take place, but it is the only room in the house that emanates a certain amount of softness thanks to wall-to-wall carpetingand a tufted bed.

Burlesque console
This intriguing piece by Koket is sleek, sexy and elegant but that’s not the first thing you notice. The eye-catching detail here is the series of polished brasshoops that act as the console’s base.

Mademoiselle armoire
Koket also created the Mademoiselle armoire, which exudes luxury and a sense that anything kept inside must be of the highest quality. The intricate butterfly design and handle are polished brass over silk lining and the interior is covered in gold leaf.
