How Meghan Markle might decorate her and Harry's home
A little design inspo from the Duchess of Sussex herself
If the rumours are true, Meghan Markle might have a major design project on her hands: Doing up apartment 1 at Kensington Palace. While the newlyweds are currently nested in the much-smaller Nottingham Cottage, their (alleged) new digs will be a 21-room wing of the palace, right next door to Will and Kate (and George, Charlotte and Louis, of course!).
We know Meghan has impeccable taste (remember this tour of her Toronto pad?) and you know whatever design and decor she goes with will probably be in a similar clean, light, very Scandi-chic vein. Juuuust in case she’s looking for suggestions — or you want to get in on some Sussex-style inspo — here are a few pieces we could see her incorporating into her new home, fit for a duchess.
1. A neutral sofa

Meghan loves her soft greys, beiges and whites, so this oatmeal-y sofa is the perfect foundation piece to that colour palette. A West Elm collabo with Roar & Rabbit, an American, women-fronted design firm, it’s classic-but-not-basic, much like MM herself. And the fact that it’s a loveseat is just perfect, no?
2. A marble table and a Gray Malin print

Like the rest of us, Meghan is not immune to the instant French-cafe-chic of a marble-topped table. The feminine curves of these nesting tables fit right together (get it?!) with her soft, slightly-girly aesthetic but the brass edges keep them decidedly cool.

We know (again from Insta post above) that Meghan is a fan of these iconic photographs, and already has at least one in her possession. Since the British weather can tend a bit to the dreary, we reckon she should make it a pair with this cheering, and very aptly named beach scene.
3. A sentimental throw

In Insta shots shared of her old Toronto home, Meghan showed that she clearly has a soft spot for cozy throws. If we might ever so humbly suggest: What about adding this blanket to the collection for movie night snuggles with Harry? It’s a tribute to her ex-homeland, but in the muted tones we know MM loves.
4. Woven accents

Meghan had a set of wicker chairs in her Canadian home, so we know she loves the rustic texture. We think she'd love this rattan armchair, topped with a fluffy throw.

5. Feminine accent pieces

While her interior style is mostly pared back, Meghan does love a few quirky elements, like the antlers we saw on her walls back in TO, for instance. We also know she’s a proud feminist who loves supporting women’s empowerment so...what could be more fitting than this fun, conversation-starting vase? After all, she needs somewhere chic to put all the fresh flowers she clearly loves.

Meghan is known to be a lover of the Figuier candle (and who isn’t really?!). Now that she’s a Duchess, she should definitely treat herself to the jumbo size, which, conveniently, incorporates seamlessly into her preferred all-white palette.

6. A paned mirror

In an Instagram that’s practically iconic these days, Meghan posed on her all-white bed to snap a pajama-clad mirror selfie in an antiqued, paned mirror. And even though her Insta-ing days are over (still so sad) we feel like she’d still keep the general vibe around — but give it a bit of a royal touch in a trendy brass finish.
