Cozy Posies

As soon as you feel that first nip in the air, it’s natural to start thinking about getting cozy: cue the woolly socks, snuggles by the fire and curling up with a good book. You’ll want to up the cozy factor of your decor, too, and one of our favourite ways to give a room a cocoon-like feel is with old-timey wallpaper in warm harvest hues. Look for patterns like posies on repeat or small-scale geometrics in warm tones like orange, yellow, browns and reds.

New Kid On The Block

For Crate and Barrel’s latest designer collaboration, the company has teamed up with Jeremiah Brent, designer and the newest member of Netflix’s Queer Eye, for a great new collection of kids’ furniture. The pieces are wonderfully practical and surprisingly sophisticated – like the stylish yet timeless curves of the Collector Cane desk or the Arline Full Bed (not shown), with its three hidden pullout drawers. Many of the upholstered pieces are finished in kid-safe, comfy fabrics like bouclé, fleece and velvet, and feature trendy curves and colours. Plus, the collection is made using sustainable materials and methods.

Supreme soak

We’re loving taking long baths again, and a strikingly modern shaped tub like the James by Acquabella makes for a sophisticated soak. The flared rim and gently sloping sides – which bring to mind the graceful curves of a calla lily – provide the perfect shape for leaning back and relaxing. Made of a durable mineral composite, the James comes in a soaker or air bath version, and in a range of elegant matte-finish shades.

Stylish snooze

Article’s Sven chair was already comfy enough for catching forty winks, but why stop there? The new Sven Sleeper chair has a foldout seat cushion and extra padded back cushion and bolsters, so you can easily covert it into a single bed. It’s super for kids’ sleepovers or overnight guests during the holidays, and it’s available in two styles and a range of colours and fabrics.

Into the woods

The Bosquet Collection of furniture from the Quebec woodwork- ing duo Le Tenon et La Mortaise features artisanal designs in richly grained Douglas fir, all handmade in Quebec’s Kamouraska region. Shipped in flat-pack form for easy assembly without tools, each made-to-order piece is available in either the natural slightly- pinkish-to-pale-brown colour of Douglas fir, or stained in a range of striking nature-inspired shades. The collection includes the Douglas screen ($1,320), Mugo armchair ($1,480) and Buis stool ($560).

Mirror, Mirror

Hollace Cluny’s newest offering of wall mirrors by both well- known and up-and-coming decorative artists and artisans is beautiful to look at. We think they are truly works of art with a practical side. Most striking are the organic-shape mirrors, such as Skram’s natty wooden Drop, with its integrated shelf; Ben & Aja Blanc’s enticingly tactile Iris, featuring mohair, silk and wool; and Austin Rose’s white acrylic Helios.
