Create a room like these no matter your budget with a few key tips:
1. Make it modern boho
This trend, with its charming mix of styles, colours and patterns, is one of the most fun to experiment with. Seemingly improvised and loosely arranged, modern boho works to full effect when these common threads come together in harmony.
It's a simple formula: Graphic prints + Natural textures + Warm metals + Eclectic elements = Modern boho.
Gone are the days of regulation rectangular wooden coffee tables that pair with a three-seater sofa and matching loveseat. Today’s versions are available in more shapes and forms than a math teacher can summon (see what we did there?).
3. Opt for Millennial Pink extras
Like the rest of the design world, we’re swooning over Millennial Pink, the petally shade so prevalent this season – just take our highlighting blush-coloured sofas as proof. But part of the beauty of this set-up, with its pulled together modern boho vibe, is that using a statement piece in any soft hue, from mint to lavender, may change the colour conversation, but still result in a room with lots of impact.
The modern boho look is the ideal environment for thinking outside the box and using ad hoc items in place of more standard pieces. From lampshades fashioned out of birdcages and baskets to toss cushion covers made from tribal rugs and dress fabric, the sky’s the limit. So, no side table? No problem. Here, we pressed a glam bar cart into service as an ersatz end table with predictably swish results. We’ll drink to that!
Modern boho demands a bit of glamorous styling to offset all the natural textures that are part of its signature. Here, we’ve added a stretch of gold-coloured ribbon down one edge of each plain drapery panel to o er a pop of glitz to this pastel-focused room.
