Go for leather on leather: From decor to fashion, leather on leather is everywhere we look. The lavish layered trend lends itself well to a dramatic aesthetic, and our posh High vignette proved the ideal place to give it a try.
Lend the room a dose of animal print: Traditional elements are key for tempering those new and now pieces. That’s why we wrapped some of the books on display in this totally timeless animal-print wallpaper.
Choose unique colour combos: Blue is not new, but it feels fresh when paired with au courant colours like pale pink and caramel. To ensure the space remains stylish as years pass, we used navy as our base and layered in the other two hues with accents, but this trio – in any combination – is a clear winner.
For a luxe touch, incorporate wallpaper into the space: Want to push this dramatic sitting room one step further? Replace the navy wallcovering with a saturated cranberry wallpaper like this laminated raw silk one. “The colour is so hot these days,” says contributing design editor Christine Hanlon, “and it would add an interesting dimension to the space.”
Our favourite piece in the room is also the most timeless piece — a brown leather sofa. And so, we've rounded up the best options on the market, at every price point. Flip through the slideshow below to check out our hand-selected picks.
