CREATE A ROOM LIKE THIS NO MATTER YOUR BUDGET WITH A FEW SIMPLE DESIGN TIPS:

1 Go graphic.
The captivating High sideboard brings to mind a well-loved childhood game — Tetris. Mimicking the look of staggered and stacked blocks, the graphic doors are at once fun and stylish. The lacquered finish highlights each rectangle for a dynamic effect, which is echoed in the intentionally random artwork arrangement above.

2 Decorate with vases.
Good things come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, the more shapes and sizes, the better! The floral display becomes secondary when the vases are this attractive. Most are stout with an organic texture, while one is statuesque with a geometric silhouette. What unites this collection is the warm tones.

3 Give loud pieces a make-under.
With its bright glossy yellow finish, the Low coffee table seemed a bit too youthful for this chic room. To tame it, we spray-painted its top matte black and added sophisticated copper feet. Believe it or not, we made the feet from inexpensive copper plumbing supplies – we cut 1/2" pipe into four 3" segments and attached them using couplers.

4 Personalize your gallery wall with your own photography.
Beauty lies in abandoned spaces, peeling paint, weathered wood and rusted metal. Grab your camera and explore your surroundings to tease out the allure in the apparently unappealing. Get creative with subject, composition and scale. Group your favourite snaps by their tonality, get them professionally printed, and you’ll be ready to build a gallery wall. To elevate the display, include an artist’s piece (if you’re one to change up your decor often, you can save funds by renting instead of buying).

5 Try a trend piece.
Beyond providing handy extra seating, quartz pink ottomans lend these living rooms a fashion-forward touch, acting as sumptuous jewels in the space. Whether you’re on a gem or trinket budget, there are many options out there for getting the look – be it glam, simple or playful.
