Blossoming trees usher the season into a lively living room by Toronto-based designer Meredith Heron.
Come spring, there's nothing quite like the allure of wonderfully fragrant blossoming trees to warm our winter-weary hearts. Their appearance is fleeting, which is part of the appeal (they're playing hard to get). Here, they usher the season into a lively living room by Toronto-based designer Meredith Heron of Meredith Heron Design. The space's vibrant accent colours -- electric pink and fresh chartreuse -- were the jumping-off point for injecting it with some of nature's brightest creations. Take a look and get inspired!

Decorating with flowers: Colourful spring blossoms
Living room
Pink, green and white enliven the living room. The plush furnishings and soft rug in neutral shades of charcoal grey-tone and cream create a cozy vibe, making the look easy to change up when the mood (or season) strikes.

Simple glass vase
Tall and sculptural branches placed in simple glass vases create a pleasing display on the coffee table. The flowers used here – striking fuchsia rhododendrons and delicate white apple blossom flowers – coordinate with the other accents in the living room.

Dining room
Loose sprays of coral quince, pink cherry and white apple blossoms perfectly capture the casual spring mood when gathered together on the dining table. Using glass vases of different heights and shapes makes for a vignette that’s fresh and dynamic.

Blossoming branches
At once sculptural, delicate and colourful, blossoming branches have a beautiful simplicity on their own – no need to embellish with additional flowers or foliage. and although it’s nice to treat yourself to a floral arrangement from the market once in a while, these beauties can often be found in your very own backyard.
