These wedding tablescape trends will ensure your big day's unforgettable

Any bride-to-be will agree that when it comes to planning a wedding, there are so many details that need to be fussed over – what food to order, what types of flowers to choose, which friends to invite, what tabletop decor to go with, and the list goes on and on. And so, we're here to make things a little easier for you, dear bride. We’ve rounded up eight of the latest wedding tabletop trends that'll ensure your Big Day is chic, stylish and of course, picture-perfect.

Trend: Floral canopy

Flowers are a major component of most weddings but this elaborate and colourful canopy that frames the bride and groom creates a romantic backdrop. The fuchsia cherry blossoms are used throughout the wedding but the twenty-foot cherry blossom tree that cascades over the head table definitely steals the show.

Trend: Doughnut dessert table

The head table isn’t the only table brides spend a lot of time planning. The dessert table deserves equal attention and we just love the trend of a dessert table dedicated to our weakness...doughnuts!

Trend: Au naturel

Less colour can mean more elegance, as demonstrated by the use of a simple colour palette on this wedding table. White blooms pop against natural greenery and the effect is effortlessly chic. A little bit rustic and a lot romantic, this look is easy to achieve.

Trend: Overhead lighting

Planning out your tables may have you thinking horizontally but don’t forget to consider the vertical space above the table, too! We’re talking about lighting overhead that will cast a gentle glow on the festivities and spotlight the beautiful details on the table itself. Consider hanging wired lightbulbs or lanterns for a pretty effect that can work just as beautifully for a backyard barbecue.

Trend: Tabletop garlands

Floral centrepieces have long been the standard way to decorate a wedding table but we can’t get enough of the natural beauty of this garland running the length of the table. Plus, it’s low enough that guests won’t have to bob and weave to see over centrepieces that get in the way of chatting with the person across the table.

Trend: Tabletop trees

If grander is more your style, forget the garland and go big with tree centrepieces. These ones are extra high so they won’t impede guests’ views or conversation and add a bit of drama to the table’s overall look.

According to the experts at Bridal Guide, the bride won’t be the only thing blushing at the wedding. Soft, subtle and timeless, blush continues to be the colour du jour when it comes to weddings. Seen in everything from bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses to the flowers and tabletop décor, blush is the perfect way to add just a hint of colour.

Trend: Favours with longevity

We love the idea of giving each guest a wedding favour that will last longer than just through the night. Potted succulents will last a long time (if tended to properly) and will look lovely placed at each guest’s table setting.
