Ingredients
  • 3 sq. semi-sweet chocolate
  • ½ cup butter or margerine, softened
  • 1-½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2-¾ cups all purpose flour
  • 2-½ tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup almonds, coarsely chopped
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tbl orange rind
 
Directions

Partially melt 3 squares of chocolate in microwave (approx. 2 mins. on medium). Beat together butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat in melted chocolate and remaining ingredients except for chocolate chips and nuts.

2 Add chocolate chips and nuts and stir batter by hand. Divide dough in half and form into a long log and place on a greased baking sheet. Repeat with second half of dough.

3 Bake at 350F for 30 mins.  Cool 10 mins.  Remove from pan and with a sharp knife cut into ¾” slices. 

4 Return cookies to cookie sheet, cut side down.  Bake 20 mins. longer turning cookies over once. Cool.

Makes 4 dozen.
