Homemade takeout menu
No matter how much you love to
cook, there are always going to be those busy days when you just don't have the time to prepare a meal from start to finish. On those hectic days, indulge in a takeout dish and spice it up with a few easy homemade additions.
A sushi platter
Making your own sushi is a little bit of an undertaking - you need the tools and a little technique! If you're in the mood for a Japanese meal, try purchasing some rolls at your favourite Japanese takeout place and complementing it with a fresh salad. It's the perfect way to enjoy sushi at home.
A mix of sliced avocados and spinach leaves makes a perfect side to sushi. Try adding a drizzle of sesame oil to your traditional vinaigrette for an Asian-inspired dressing.
Barbecue pork baguette sandwiches
For the perfect gourmet sandwich, buy some barbecue pork from a Chinese restaurant and add a few pieces to a sliced baguette, with some cucumber and hoisin sauce. Simply spread some of the sweet sauce on the bread, layer with the pork and add a few slices of cucumber drizzled with lime juice.
Cheese BOARD, Indigo.
Peanut noodles
Stir fried noodles are a great option for those nights when comfort foods are what you're after. To add a little freshness to the dish, whisk some smooth peanut butter with a little soy sauce and sesame oil to taste. To top if off, add some freshly chopped cilantro and lime.

Lettuce wraps
This dish is a great option for leftover fried rice. Simply serve the warm fried rice with crisp lettuce leaves (we used Boston lettuce). Add a little rice to each lettuce leaf and enjoy as rolls. Serve with some fish sauce to use as a dip.

A little dessert
Chinese bakeries carry a vast array of delicious baked goods which usually happen to be very inexpensive as well! Purchasing an angel food cake is the perfect starting point to make a fabulous dessert in minutes. Simply slice the cake into bite-sized chunks and layer with sweetened whipped cream and fresh berries. Serve in wine glasses or small bowls.
