DIY project: Birch branch advent calendar
This year, create your very own hanging advent calendar.
Materials
- 3 to 4 sheets of coordinated wrapping paper
- 24 small lightweight gifts
- 1 small skein of two-toned yarn
- 1 birch branch (1” thick and 2’ to 3’ long)
- Scissors
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks
Directions
1 Wrap the gifts in the complementary wrapping paper.
2 Tie one end of a 2’ piece of the yarn tightly around the birch branch, 3 to 4” in from the end of the branch; make sure it’s secure. Tie the other end of the piece of yarn to the other end of the branch, making sure it’s secure. Snip off any yarn tails with the scissors.
3 Hang the branch from a hook in your desired location.
4 Tie each present to the tree branch using pieces of yarn of various lengths to achieve a staggered effect. If the yarn is slipping from the wrapping paper, use a dab of hot glue on the back of the present to secure it. For weightier packages, use a second length of yarn for extra stability.
