Hotel Style: Four Seasons Dublin

In November 2012, the Four Seasons Dublin saw a refresh in the design of the ground floor, including the lobby, concierge area, and the lounge and dining areas. The overhaul took the look from traditional to modern, showing off bright and bold colours, monochromatic fixtures, fun textiles and lots of beautiful Irish art.

Hoping to create a more casual and engaging space, the hotel recruited interior designer Anderson Miller to bring these ideas to life. “As a result, we now have a space on the ground floor that is brighter, more ergonomic and contemporary,” says Four Seasons Dublin’s General Manager Robert Nolan.

Though much more modern, Anderson stayed true to Ireland’s traditional side, using materials that invoke the past, like tweed-covered couches, leather chairs and wool carpeting.

“Overstuffed, elegant sofas fill the corners of The Lobby Lounge, creating a perfect space for afternoon chats, midday escapes or cosy dinners,” adds Robert. “An eclectic, yet classic style fills the room with artworks from Irish artists adding even more layers to the space.”

Embracing a more contemporary design, the Four Seasons Dublin has removed the traditional table in the centre of the lobby, drawing guests directly to the lounge. Upon stepping into the lobby it becomes obvious that the chosen colour palette of greys, reds and browns contribute to the hotel’s new cutting edge design. hotel-style-dublin-reading-room.jpg
The Reading Room
The folks at Four Seasons Dublin felt it imperative that the newly designed ground-floor space includes a casual place to dine. But make no mistake, in true Four Seasons fashion, you’re still dining in style. “The dining areas are filled with leather clad chairs, a rich contrasting wool carpet of warm greys and taupe with a deep raspberry red that grounds the room and plays contrast to the grey marble walls,” Robert says.

Dining isn’t restricted to The Reading Room. Should hotel guests feel more comfortable dining in the adjacent lounge or bar, they are free to do so. “We also introduced a more casual dining option to allow the convivial atmosphere to flow between these areas, providing a more relaxed yet elegant experience,” Robert adds. hotel-style-dublin-ice-lounge.jpg

ICE Lounge

Designed by Cantrell & Crowley in association with Michael Collins and Associates, the Four Seasons Dublin’s ICE Lounge is a hotspot for evening drinks – and a must-see. The high ceiling, regal archways and ivory floors play into the hotel’s traditional decor, and the modern touches like the light fixtures, bar chairs and Irish art keep it a destination for tourists and city folk alike. Sit at the marble-top bar and enjoy a classic martini in style. And don’t forget to take a few minutes to look at the walls, adorned in original art made by local artists. hotel-style-dublin-room.jpg

Impeccably manicured grounds surround Dublin’s Four Seasons, and given Ireland’s climate, they’re always a deep, lush green. The hotel’s large property makes for a perfect post-dinner stroll or an ideal venue for a special private event. The Georgian-style building is what keeps it looking grand, and detailing like the building’s greenhouse-style windows only add to the hotel’s luxurious look. hotel-style-dublin-pool.jpg

Pool

The pool and spa are located on the mezzanine level of the hotel, providing a truly secluded and calm surrounding. The atrium pool is bright and open, with high ceilings and greenhouse-like windows featuring architectural detailing. If relaxing is more appealing than swimming laps, enjoy the whirlpool and take in the views of the hotel’s stunning sunken garden.
