Soaring above the skyline of midtown Toronto, the new Four Seasons hotel is surely one of the most beautiful in this growing metropolis. Opened in 2012, the new flagship location is the embodiment of class, welcoming guests into a 55-storey tower of pure elegance. The property is home to 259 guest rooms (with 42 suites), a restaurant headed up by the world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud and a sprawling 30,000 square foot spa. The Four Seasons is a global brand (there are 90 Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 36 countries around the world) but with its roots and headquarters in Canada, the new Toronto location is now a true reflection of its status.

Spacious entryway
Design firm Yabu Pushelberg designed the interior of the hotel. Don’t expect to bump into the check-in desk the moment you walk in. The entryway that greets guests upon their first arrival is lined with mahogany panels that are simultaneously intricate and simple and lead guests through a series of serene ‘phases’ before reaching the reception area. Toronto’s midtown area can feel congested like most major cities but step inside the hotel and the lobby’s soaring 20-foot ceilings create a feeling of space and grandeur. There’s a dandelion motif throughout the hotel and the large-scale sculptural installation pictured here, by Canadian artist and designer Alissa Coe is a real statement piece that adds instant whimsy to the space.
Home away from home
Unpack your bags and get comfortable. You’re never going to want to leave your room once you check in! The design of all the hotel’s rooms and suites has a real residential feeling, making these spaces really feel like a home away from home. With the use of a muted, neutral palette of sand-coloured linens and slate grey accents, design firm Yabu Pushelberg focused on creating calming bedrooms with a soothing atmosphere. Sweet dreams are pretty much guaranteed in these bedrooms.
Work area
But let’s face it: For many business travelers, it’s more work than play when they’re on the road. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style. All rooms have an oversized desk and ergonomically designed chair so you can buckle down and get the job done. The rooms also feature state-of-the-art technology, effortlessly integrated into the space; each room has a large flat screen TV and an iPad from which you can order room service or book an appointment in one of the spa’s 17 treatment rooms.
Luxurious bathroom
The luxury continues in the bathroom. Spacious with ample countertop space so you don’t have to fight for room with your significant other, the bathrooms are simple in design but artful in looks and function. All the hotel’s rooms boast full marble bathrooms, each with a decadent soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. A flat-screen television embedded into the oversized bathroom mirror is another example of the seamless integration of design into the rooms and means you don’t have to miss the morning news while you’re getting ready.
Four Seasons restaurant: Café Boulud
Whether you’re a guest at the hotel or a local Torontonian looking for a great new dinner venue, add Café Boulud to your list. By world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud, perhaps best known for his eponymous, 3-Michelin star restaurant Daniel in New York City, Café Boulud is one of Toronto’s newest hot spots. The menu is French/Mediterranean inspired with a healthy dose of local ingredients, too. The restaurant has a vibrant energy to it, spurred along in part by the lively artwork by artist Mr. Brainwash, whose work, which has a Warhol-esque appeal, graces the walls.
