We checked in with Firuza Mistry of The Grand Hyatt Mumbai to find out more about the inspiration behind the design of the hotel’s rooms.

styleathome.com: How would you describe the look of the hotel bedrooms?
Firuza MIstry: The first thing that comes to mind when you look at the room is the luxury of space in a clean, minimalist environment. The room is set in basic overtones of earthy colours and has a very simple yet elegant look to it. It’s interesting to observe the tastefully designed floor surfaces that compliment the luxurious sleeping comfort of the room.  Light hued Sycamore wood panelling is paired with golden Jaisalmer stone (found in Rajasthan, India) and artwork to induce a feeling of calmness and serenity in every room.   

sah.com: What was the inspiration for designing these rooms?
FM: The basic inspiration of the room was to create an environment with superior design elements while keeping the lines simple and straight. The earthy colour palette highlights a sense of space created for guests who like to surrender at the end of a long day. With an emphasis on high thread count bed linens and feather comfort duvets and pillows, the comfort of the Grand Hyatt Mumbai rooms is best experienced rather than put in words. The hotel and serviced apartment guestrooms continue to reflect the seamless, open plan and the contemporary style of the hotel complex. The bathrooms are spacious and refined, with deep, luxurious bathtubs; some have a shower area and a spacious, well-lit vanity area, which is separated from the bedroom by a door.

FM: A sense of space and simplicity, designed for today's well-travelled guest highlights the essential features of the rooms at Grand Hyatt Mumbai. The earthy tones of the room complement the green courtyard, which encompasses natural light at its best. The use of light hued Sycamore paired with locally available Jaisalmer, give it just the required Indian touch.

FM: The overall guest amenities and supplies provided in each room focus on natural elements. The large French windows help to utilize natural light at its best, thus ensuring minimum usage of artificial light. Natural bath salts, handmade glycerin soaps in various natural fragrances, recyclable laundry bags and shoe shine bags and recyclable business notepads are just some of the features that showcase our effort to ensure an eco-friendly environment.

FM: The rooms at the hotel showcase a sense of comfort in a relaxed, non-pretentious environment. The design elements bring out the subtle details in comfort while ensuring an overall feeling of luxury at its simplistic best.
