Style news: The new neutrals
Look beyond the flat greys, basic beiges and off-whites that have dominated paint picks for the past couple of years. We've selected our favourite new neutral paint colours that bring added life and depth to our walls in shades of velvety lilac, soft sage and warm taupe.
Go for taupe
Grey's friendlier cousin, taupe works well with warmer woods and is a great choice for open-concept spaces, where you need a single wall colour that works with everything. From left to right: 1 Beauti-Tone Angora SD021, Home Hardware. 2 Sarah Richardson Shoreline SR43, Para Paints. 3 Burnished Clay UL260-12, Behr. 4 Fog Mist OC-31, Benjamin Moore. 5 Elephant’s Breath 229, Farrow & Ball. 6 Valspar Oatlands Subtle Taupe 6005-1B, Lowe’s.
Try sage
If you’re drawn to blues, try silvery sage. Its subtle blue green undertones are perfect for rooms where you want a sophisticated yet serene vibe. From left to right: 1 Valspar Sculpture White 7005-22, Lowe’s. 2 Bayou 24-28, Pratt & Lambert. 3 Frosty Pine 409-3, Pittsburgh Paints. 4 Borrowed Light 235, Farrow & Ball. 5 Smoky Green CC -700, Benjamin Moore. 6 Line of Credit P5170-34D, Para Paints.
Give lilac a go
This pale purple pastel is a great choice when looking for unexpected, quiet glamour. Try it paired with polished-nickel accents in a powder room or bedroom.
