DIY project: Fabric strip wreath
Collecting beautiful patterned
fabrics you're not sure what to do with? Create a colourful
holiday wreath to hang in your home with these simple to follow instructions.
Materials
Before you start: Choose two adjacent colours on the colour wheel (here, we picked royal blue and majestic purple) and select four fabrics for each hue that transition from light to dark; then add white.
Instructions
1 Using scissors, make 48 snips at 1" intervals along the length of each fabric. Hand-rip into strips across the entire width.
2 Working on the first half of the wreath, start with your darkest shade of fabric in one of your choice colours. Attach 24 of the fabric strips to the wreath (we did six strips on each of the frame’s four wire sections) by folding one fabric strip in half and looping it around the wire frame. Repeat with the other fabrics, gradually progressing through the shades to white and then on to the next hue from light to dark.
3 Moving on to the second half of the wreath, attach the remaining strips of fabric in the same fashion but as a mirror image of the first half.
