How to: Make a restaurant-style chalkboard
Give your kitchen a dash of restaurant flair with the addition of a chalkboard. The matte black ornate frame gives it the right amount of je ne sais quoi, and topped with a quote from your favourite chef, who could resist the temptation to make this simple project? Here are the instructions and what you will need to make this simple chalkboard project.
Materials
- Ornate frame
- Matte black spray paint
- Measuring tape
- 1/8" MDF board
- Chalkboard paint
- Small finishing nails
- Hammer,
- Picture-hanging hardware
Instructions
1 Find an ornate frame and spray paint it matte black.
2 Measure the opening of the frame for the piece of MDF board. Have your building-supply store cut it down to size.
3 Paint one side of the board using specialty chalkboard paint. Apply as per the instructions.
4 Secure the board to the back of the frame using finishing nails and a hammer. Attach the picture-hanging hardware to the frame.
