Baking soda is a versatile and affordable cleaning product that can scrub surfaces, remove unpleasant odours, eradicate stains and clean mould and mildew. It's useful in the kitchen, bathroom, garden—everywhere! Plus, baking powder neutralizes acidity and is odourless and water-soluble.

Eliminate Unpleasant Odours with Baking Soda


Baking soda can remove unpleasant odours from your trash bin and fridge. Place a bowl with a few spoonfuls in the fridge and sprinkle some in the bottom of your garbage can. Replace the baking powder when it stops working.


Clean Your Oven with Baking Soda


To clean grease and stains from your oven, mix a spoonful of baking soda with a litre of hot water. Scrub with a sponge, leave it overnight and then wipe off any residue with a clean sponge.


Maintain Pipes with Baking Soda


Pour a mixture of one cup of baking soda and two glasses of white vinegar down your pipes. This creates an effervescent reaction that will clean them right out. After 15 minutes, rinse with hot water.


Clean Carpets with Baking Soda


To remove odours and clean your carpet, sprinkle baking soda on any stains or markings and scrub with a brush. Let it sit for a few hours before vacuuming.


Shine Stainless Steel with Baking Soda


Use baking soda to shine stainless steel surfaces like range hoods, saucepans, silverware and sinks. Dilute the baking soda in warm water, clean with a sponge and rinse with water.


Clean Mould from Walls with Baking Soda


Remove mould stains from bathroom walls by mixing a spoonful of baking soda with water in a spray bottle. Spray it on, scrub with a sponge and rinse.


Disinfect Toilets with Baking Soda


Baking soda can disinfect toilets too. Pour two spoonfuls into the toilet bowl and walls, add white vinegar and leave overnight. Scrub with a brush and rinse the next day.

To remove tomato sauce stains from plastic containers, add two spoonfuls of baking soda and hot water. Let it soak for 2 hours, then scrub with a sponge and rinse. The stains should disappear!
