Level up your cleaning routine with these tips and tricks and give your home a relaxed fall vibe
As the temperature drops, we are spending more time indoors, so it makes sense to step up our cleaning routines inside. This quick and simple plan will save you time, energy and give your home a relaxed fall vibe.
The Number 1 Thing You Need
If you have kids or pets you already know a good vacuum cleaner goes a long way. Finding one that effectively cleans dust, dirt and pet hair from carpets and hard floors, and makes vacuuming easy is another story. Enter the new LG CordZero™ vacuum, an innovative solution that combines power and performance with the reliability we expect from LG. The vacuum delivers 80 minutes of continuous power for a consistent clean1, so you can lose the broom.
Reframe your thinking
Don’t just think of fall cleaning and sanitizing as a to-do chore before the cold winter months ahead. Instead, look at it as an opportunity to show your home some love. A deep clean and weekly maintenance routine will help get rid of any allergens and make for a healthier, happier environment.
Start with a plan
Start a room-by-room list of what needs to be done and set realistic timelines beside each task. Try to multitask, so you can check off your list in no time. Spray down your kitchen sink and counter tops, leaving the cleaning product to sit for a couple of minutes before wiping them down. While you wait, wipe down all the trim, baseboards, and any other neglected areas.
Break it up
You can’t clean the entire place in a single evening. Break up the deep cleaning into smaller daily tasks, like choosing one room to vacuum each day. Then, schedule and set up times to do specific tasks throughout the week, so keeping everything clean isn’t an onerous and daunting task. Make this a family affair and get everyone involved, assigning them each a day or task.
Organization is your friend
It’s easier to clean a home that isn’t full of clutter. Sort and get rid of the items that you don't need. If you haven't used it in a year, you most likely can donate it or toss it out. Set up three bins labeled 'donate', 'repair' and 'toss' to de-clutter your home of unwanted items. To keep a consistent schedule, clear out the bins once a month.
Experiment with cleaning hacks
Don’t be afraid to use cleaning hacks. Here’s one: Mix 1 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of baking soda, then pour into the bathtub and let stand for five minutes. Then, fill the tub a quarter full with hot water; let stand for another 5 minutes. Drain and rinse. The bathtub practically cleans itself.
Vacuum all upholstery
Your sofa may look clean, but you’ll be surprised what is hidden underneath the cushions and in the crevices. With the new LG CordZero™ cordless vacuum, users can easily switch between floors and furniture for total freedom in cleaning with the handheld vacuum and upholstery tool. It also comes with an adjustable length telescopic wand which provides flexibility to accommodate height or high reach areas of the home like ceiling corners and walls.
Ditch the toxic cleaning products
Natural cleaning methods are just as effective as chemical ones. Use essential oils instead of air fresheners or scented products. Tip: Combine a lemon essential oil and water in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave it on high for 5 minutes. Let it cool down a bit before using it to wipe the microwave down. Clean never smelled so good.
