The homeowners wanted a retreat from busy family life, so a serene colour palette of pale blue, navy and white was used to create a feeling of calm. Gleaming glass and stone finishes modernize the room, while leaded-glass windows lend it a heritage quality.

The layout
The large 10-by-20-foot floor plan was rearranged to eliminate the corner tub. Now a clean-lined free-standing tub is tucked into the 25-square-foot window alcove, and even with a double vanity and built-in storage, there's still plenty of space.

Shower and floors
The shower opening was widened to create a more spacious area with a glass door to brighten it up, while the show-stopping diamond pattern floors were created with cream porcelain tiles bordered by navy ones.
