Three Canadian bloggers work their magic on an empty living room. Author: Stacey Brandford
Transform your living room for the holidays with three completely different looks from Canadian decor bloggers.
We asked a few of Canada’s top decor bloggers to work their Christmas magic on an empty living room. The results are three dramatically different holiday looks all equally ready for Santa’s arrival.

Elegantly eclectic
“The old-world-inspired wallpaper and glamorous floral garland (I always say think beyond standard Christmas greenery!) influenced the direction of this look, and the opulent result has a more-is-more vibe.”

A modern twist
“I like to mix traditional with modern and pair maximalist notions with more restrained sculptural items. This luxuriously feminine blush pink, deep burgundy and pale mint palette – my favourite colour scheme at the moment – is balanced by the graphic simplicity of all the black and white.”

Refined rustic
"I design rooms that are welcoming and livable, with nothing too precious in them. The magic here is in the high-contrast pairings like the black accents against the white wall, as well as the clean-lined architecture of the board-and-batten panelling combined with the textured furnishings.”

Add in some DIY
“I also always include a hint of whimsy and a DIY or two, like the woodblock houses and the Advent calendar of cotton bags tied to a piece of twine. It all results in a style I’d describe as Scandinavian meets traditional.”

Beautifully bold
"I arrived upon this magical masculine scheme by mixing patterns and textures with eclectic objects. While the palette and furnishings are more traditional, the vignette feels fresh, thanks to whimsical organic touches like felt bird ornaments, the moss wreath, the pineapple artwork and the pompom tree skirt.”

Keep it cohesive
“The trick to making a look cohesive is to ensure the patterns are all consistent in colour. In this case, everything is blue, white, black and grey. The result is a dynamic space that will still sparkle well after Christmas.”

Show off the gifts
A white tray is a great way to display beautifully wrapped gifts. Not only is it convenient for carrying small presents, but it also shows off the chic black wrapping paper matching the space.
