nate berkus collection at target canada
Not only is Canada welcoming Target stores to our fine nation, it also brings with it an exciting collection from design star Nate Berkus. I was fortunate enough to be at the preview event to chat with Nate and dish on what he's bringing to the true north!

Welcome to Canada? Do you see Canada as a new market or as another extension of the US?
NATE BERKUS I am excited to be in Canada! I think it is a new market because I think Canadians have a fantastic grasp on design and there’s a real energy here to receive new things and new ideas.
JW Is there a specific piece in the collection that encapsulates your style?
NB There isn’t because the influences change all the time. There are over 150 pieces in the collection because it’s so complete with everything from bedding to bath to windows to
rugs to lighting. But there was something we had an internal laugh about between my design team and I, that when we were developing the collection the motto was, “If you like it then you should have put a stud on it.” So you’ll be seeing lots of
studded accessories.
JW Did you travel to visit the artisans who are manufacturing the collection or did you leave it in Target’s hands to realize your creation?
NB Target is incredible at sourcing, and my team is incredible at interpreting what I’m finding as I travel and converting it back into items that make sense in people’s homes. So whether that’s being on a tour of cathedrals in Naples and taking inspiration from an inlay in the
tiled floors, to being in Greece and looking at the design of a window grate and realizing that it would be a phenomenal repeat pattern on bedding, we’re literally manufacturing these pieces all over the world for one reason: so people can feel inspired the same way I did when they turn the aisle at Target.
JW What are three adjectives you’d use to describe your collection?
NB It feels layered, it feels assembled and it feels collected.
What do YOU think of Nate Berkus' new collection?
