one of a kind spring show: 7 textile designers to love
No matter what I plan on looking for at the
One of a Kind Shows, I inevitably find myself stopping at every
textile booth on the floor. From
tea towels to bedding to bags, there is a print that will catch your eye. What I'm finding more and more at each show is the diversity in products, using these designs on everything from paper to clothing to accessories and materials, such as wood. I'm always inspired by showcasing items in unique ways. Even something as simple as framing a beautiful scarf can create interest. So, with that in mind, here are seven talented textile designers to keep an out for at the show this week.
1 Jenna Rose Textiles
2 Little Minnow
3 Hatchet
4 Sophia Saunders
5 Mitani
6 Fionna Hanna
7 Senay Studio
As you can see, there's a beautiful variety in
colours and patterns -- from
neutral palettes to vibrant and graphic, like Little Minnow. Senay Studio specializes in lovely hand painted watercolours that are then transferred onto the fabric. Mitani creates eco-friendly and modern designs for baby bedding, and even wallpaper, that are beyond adorable (I admit it was the first children's booth I was completely drawn into). And I always have a huge soft spot for any Canadiana, so I was more than happy to find Fionna Hanna's tribute to her childhood in Canada. Fun fact: I also cannot resist a hint of red plaid.
