WHERE TO STAY: Fairmont Heritage Place
The suites in this luxury hotel/residence in the heart of Ghirardelli Square offer all the comforts of home: a living room complete with a fireplace, a large dining area and a gourmet kitchen (which the staff can stock with the groceries of your choice). Add to that access to terraces with stunning views of the bay, and you’ll find it tough to leave. 900 N. Point St.

WHERE TO SHOP: Hudson Grace
This simple yet elegant presidio heights neighbourhood store, owned by style authorities Monelle Totah and Gary McNatton, offers a well-edited selection of home goods ranging from classic white dinnerware to reclaimed-wood cutting boards to colourful linen napkins. 3350 Sacramento St.
WHERE TO SHOP: Big Daddy's antiques
A shop for interior designers, set decorators and design enthusiasts alike, Big Daddy’s has an endless supply of cool one-of-a-kind antiques for both indoors and out, as well as reproductions of items from around the world. Can’t find the right piece? This retailer also creates custom furnishings and lighting. 1550 17th St.
WHERE TO EAT: Black Point Cafe
Conveniently located just outside Ghirardelli Square, Black Point Cafe serves (in my humble opinion) the best almond milk latte in town. Order a freshly baked chocolate croissant to go and explore some of the nearby sites, such as Fort Mason and Fisherman’s Wharf. 882 N. Point St.
