This Hotel Is A True Oasis In The Heart Of Tokyo

Talk to almost anyone about their travel plans, and you can guarantee Japan is on their bucket list.

Home to beautiful landscapes, delicious food, and one of the busiest cities in the world, there are endless reasons why this country is worth a trip.

But travelling halfway across the world may feel intimidating to plan, especially if it includes a stop in Tokyo. With hundreds of hotels to choose from, how do you find the right place to stay? How do you balance spending time in a city with 34 million people and experiencing a true vacation? The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza has the answer.

Escape to luxury in the middle of the city

Situated in the upscale entertainment and shopping district of Ginza, The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza is a lavish property that promises to help you unwind after a busy day of exploring.

It's a home base that offers luxury with laid-back appeal; welcoming to all but with a personal, residential feel. Expect to see mostly millennials and Gen X here.

Before entering the hotel, expect to be greeted by at least one team member who will hold the big glass front doors and offer to bring your luggage inside. You'll then enter the understated but elegant lobby, featuring a large white sofa, low-slung chairs, a small bar with pastries, and a concierge desk. Here, another team member will welcome you with a refreshing beverage and take you through the check-in process.

No matter how long your journey to Tokyo and how tired you are by the time you get to the hotel, the light scent that emanates from the lobby and hallways on the walk to your suite will revive you.

Open the door to your room, and you'll be met with the sophisticated design of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. White and wooden furniture, closets that blend seamlessly into the wall design, plush robes, and tons of bathroom counter space are just a few ways this hotel stands out from others in Tokyo, where a small room and limited storage space are almost guaranteed.

No matter the type of room or suite you choose here, you can expect blackout curtains, a Nespresso machine, Le Labo bath products, twice-a-day housekeeping, and optional turn-down service. As we said, it's truly an oasis here.

You're not going to want to skip breakfast at Sophie on the 14th floor—every morning, an assortment of fresh fruit, juices, pastries, yogurts, charcuterie, and cereals and granolas are out, which you can take from freely. There's also a menu from which you can choose a main dish, with options like avocado toast with eggs, pancakes, French toast, and a traditional Japanese breakfast spread.

Other not-to-miss spaces in the hotel include the Punch Room and The Roof. While many hotel bars are perceived as a last resort, The Tokyo Edition's Punch Room is a private-club-inspired paradise and the first bar in Japan to offer authentic punches, all made with sustainable and local ingredients. Try the Red Berry made with Akamai Sake, berry, shiso, Tokyo black tea, Scarlet aperitivo, and citrus.

The wood-panelled walls and ceiling create a seamless flow from the lobby's staircase from which you enter, while the velvet, jewel-toned furniture adds a luxurious, stay-a-while feel. You'll want to check out the bar's event schedule for live music on the weekends.

When the weather is nice, head up to the rooftop patio for a calming green space you'd never expect in the middle of the city. Relax on the outdoor furniture and sip on natural wine while you're surrounded by tropical plants and leafy greens. Grab a glass of biodynamic champagne and take in Tokyo from a new vantage point.

Help when you need it

From the start of your stay to the moment you check out, the staff is what truly sets this luxury hotel apart. Team members are from all over the world, so you'll likely hear someone who speaks the same language as you, with English being easiest to find. Everyone is welcoming and more than happy to help with whatever you need. From organizing travel plans and coming-and-goings, finding jogging routes, or discovering the sights of the city, they have all the information, and you never have to wait in line.
