Amanda Etty was captivated by this tiny island’s breathtaking ocean views, picturesque cobblestone streets,
beachy homes and lobster rolls, all adding up to the perfect summer getaway.

White Elephant Inn
The White Elephant inn is the perfect spot for a relaxing long weekend getaway. Small details, such as complimentary bike rentals (the island has bike paths everywhere), pre-mapped jogging routes and wine and cheese at happy hour, made my stay feel extra special. If you’re planning an extended vacation or travelling with a group, opt to stay in the residences, which have an upscale seaside feel. 50 Easton St., whiteelephanthotelreservations.com.

Milly & Grace
There aren’t any big box stores on the island of Nantucket, which makes for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience – literally. Just off Main Street, you’ll find the decidedly feminine, ivy-covered shop Milly & Grace. Leave some room in your suitcase to bring home a few lovely things for someone special – or just for yourself. 2 Washington St., millyandgrace.com.

Boarding House
I was determined to have a fresh lobster roll (a New England staple) while in Nantucket, and Boarding House serves up one of the best with a side of crispy fries. If lobster rolls aren’t your thing, come to enjoy the intimate atmosphere and the simple farm-to-table dishes that will leave you feeling full and happy. 12 Federal St., boardinghousenantucket.com.

Topper's at The Wauwinet
Located at The Wauwinet, a dreamy inn by the sea, Topper’s offers a delicious seasonal menu with lots of fresh seafood options and an impressive award-winning wine list boasting 1,450 varieties. Enjoy your meal on the terrace for a romantic view of the bay. Reserve a spot to coincide with the setting sun. 120 Wauwinet Rd., wauwinet.com.
