Use This Minimalist Hack For A More Cohesive Bookshelf

Switch up your bookshelf design with this minimalistic hack.

We love bookshelves for how timeless they are, but there’s always room for a modern twist! A new trend taking social media by storm is the “backwards bookshelf.”

The simple idea is to flip your books around to showcase their paper edges. Rather than a bright mix of eclectic spines and designs, this trend showcases a more cohesive, monochromatic style.

Heads up: if you’re looking for a practical way to show off the books you reach for often, this might not be the way to go. The backwards display is unified and minimalistic, but it does require some digging to find specific titles.

We suggest bringing a backwards bookshelf into an office space, den, or home library. Generally speaking, this technique works best in a room with low sunlight as the natural rays can yellow the paper edges.
