The Benjamin Moore 2025 Colour Of The Year Is Here

Benjamin Moore has released its 2025 colour of the year—and it couldn’t be cozier.

Called Cinnamon Slate (2113-40), the soft purple-brown shade is rich, velvety, and approachable for even the most colour-shy homeowners.

“People might feel like the purple family is unexpected, but when you take a look at this colour, you get a calm, earthy feeling,” says Sharon Grech, an expert in design and colour trends at Benjamin Moore. “It makes you think about the purples you see in nature—the colours of leaves, flowers, and the earth.”

Selecting the 2025 shade was an easy process for the design and colour trends team. In their brainstorming sessions, they all brought similar warm, natural shades to the table.

“We’ve been seeing a saturated colour story happen over the last five or so years,” says Grech. “But with our travels and research and watching our colour trends, the most popular ones are the quieter shades.”

Along with the colour of the year, there is an extended 2025 palette that showcases similar hues. While the shades in the annual palettes aren’t necessarily designed to work together, Grech says that the muted greens, blues, and organic tans naturally create a “sense of harmony.”

These colours—aptly coined as “quietly colourful”—are soft in-between shades that can be introduced to any room.  “Some of our past colours were more vibrant, so they worked great as an accent wall,” says Grech. “I would love to see Cinnamon Slate on all four walls. It has an elevated coziness to it.”

Grech suggests introducing the shade into your living room or bedroom or incorporating it into your kitchen or dining room for an unexpected twist. It also plays well into the recent colour drenching trend, where you paint your walls, trim, and ceiling in the same shade.

Most of all, the 2025 palette is all about choosing shades that evoke a sense of relaxation. “We don’t usually start with colours, rather we try to find a thread that brings us all together,” says Grech. “This year, how colour shapes the emotional character of spaces seemed more important than ever.”
