5 Home Trends For 2025, According To Zillow
Zillow has released its high-anticipated 2025 home trends—and it’s all about curating cozy vibes while leaning into sustainability.
"Energy-efficient and climate-resilient home features are quickly gaining popularity as homeowners look to keep costs down, including insurance costs, " said Amanda Pendleton, the real estate company's home trends expert, in a news release. “At the same time, a home is not just a checklist of practical features, it's a feeling. Homeowners and buyers today are looking to the past to create a sense of warmth, character and comfort in even the most high-tech environments."
Zillow uses the most searched keywords from the last year to inform its predictions. Here are the five trends you should look out for in 2025.
Electric Features
From whole-home batteries to solar panels to electric vehicle chargers, environmentally-friendly home features skyrocketed in both listings and searches this year.
Cozy Vibes
Listings mentioning “cozy” have increased by 35 per cent compared to last year. Homeowners are searching for smaller rooms, such as dens or dining rooms, over spacious open-floor plans.
Old-world comeback
Gone are the days of Millennial grey—according to Zillow, “2025 is set to go full granny.” Design-wise, florals, tapestries, antique furnishings, and chintz are making a comeback.
Both “nostalgia” and “vintage” searches are also on the rise, as well as home libraries and second kitchens.
Climate resiliency
As climate disasters continue to increase, more home buyers are looking to invest in a home that will stand the test of time. Listings with flood barriers, seismic retrofitting, water catchment systems, and drought-resistant turf yards all increased in 2024.
Spa-inspired wet rooms
This luxurious feature, most commonly found in hotels, combines the shower and bathtub into one waterproof space without the typical shower enclosure. Wet rooms are a part of a growing emphasis on wellness design.
