The colourful oak kitchen is youthful and eye catching. “We chose a green for the cabinets that was fresh and fun,” says designer Milaré Turgeon. In front of them, the Caesarstone island is a hardworking feature used for meal prep and dining. The fetching open-niche design is for displaying dishware.

Flower Power

“We wrapped the bathroom in a wallpaper that looks like a watercolour painting,” says designer Cynthia Ferguson of the exuberant guest loo. For cohesion, the vanity’s lavender hue picks up on the pretty petals in the wallpaper while the peacock blue door links to the condo’s kitchen cabinetry.

Bring The Outdoors In

Homeowner Victoria adorned an upper hallway wall with a fantastic grass-cloth mural that references the gardens outside. An antique pine cabinet acts as a linen cupboard and is a nice foil to the modern plinth from Victoria’s furniture collection.

Pastels As A Neutral

“I went for this parade of big globe pendants because the kitchen island is huge,” says homeowner Rebekah Higgs. When she and Lennon perch on its cheery pink stools, they have views of Bedford Basin. The room’s pink touches were inspired by a vintage Fiestaware jug and by mid-century interiors that treat pink as a neutral.

Play Up The Whimsy

Designer Arren Williams’ take on the odd angles in the kids’ bathroom? “Ignore them!” he says. “I played with strong elements, such as terrazzo tiles, bold colours and colour blocking to detract from the angles and make the room come alive.” The base of the old vanity was ditched in favour of one with a sleeker profile, but Arren repurposed its quartz countertop. Artwork helps soften the graphic elements of the space.

Total wash

“Megan loves wallpaper and really wanted to do her bedroom,” says designer Jessica McGouran, but the she felt that patterned paper would be too busy against the room’s odd angles. Instead, she opted for a stunning, moody neutral paper. Pale beige-pink tones mimic a limewash or plaster finish and impart richness and romance.

Be Brave

Blue and green in a sea of shades – cerulean, sky, chartreuse and teal – not only connect the rooms, but the light tones also visually enlarge the 800-square-foot space. “It’s my favourite palette. It’s easy to live with and always feels fresh,” says homeowner Jean Stéphane.

The bathroom’s high-gloss lavender vanity is outfitted with a marble countertop and brass faucets and pulls. The vintage resin-framed mirrors and crystal and brass sconces lend a dose of character and balance out the vanity’s contemporary straight lines.

A World Trip

As an ode to his clients’ love of travel, Designer Jack Creasy papered the primary bedroom in a whimsical heron-print pattern inspired by the beauty of the Amazon rainforest. Jack happily complemented it with pink walls. “I don’t believe in the stereotype that men don’t like pink,” he says. “We have many male clients who’ve agreed to all-pink rooms and love them!”
